On November 5th 2015 the US Department of Energy (DOE) Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Climate Research Facility launched the ARM West Antarctic Radiation Experiment (AWARE), with equipment deployed to the West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS) and McMurdo Station.  AWARE scientists are collecting and will analyze quantitative data about energy components, changing air masses, and cloud microphysical data.
